What Your Graphic Tee Says About You

What exactly does this mean? It means you are making a statement, so choose your tees wisely! There are so many out there, and so many that are just so cheesy, so I am very picky about what goes on my t-shirts. Aside from just wearing one to lounge or even with jeans, there is a cult following trend out there that wear them with everything from sequins (yes, me) to high waist skirts, to any kind of dressy bottom. They can be an accessory to your swimwear in the summer, or a quick easy outfit with denim shorts and wedges. My favorite is to wear it unexpectedly like with a sequin mini skirt like I did here in Austin, or a high waist skirt. I absolutely love that look and think it puts an edgy spin on a traditional outfit whether it’s dressy or casual.

Here’s the deal though. It says a lot about you from what you choose. There are literally the worst or cheesiest statements I have ever seen, to those that try way too hard (I’m looking at you Target), to those that literally leave you saying WTF?! You can stay safe with the mainstream French sayings (if you don’t know what they mean before you buy them, please look it up!) or get saucy with a few cheeky ones. I love a graphic tee that is personal to me. Like when I wore The Who ’82 tee, it was personal to me. I grew up with love for The Who through my mother who saw them many times and loved them, and then eventually brought me to a Roger Daltrey and The Who concert where I saw for myself.

Anything involving not too much flash, but relevant to pop culture today is pretty safe like coffee. And the fact that Robert and I consider ourselves coffee connoisseurs, or ‘coffee foodies’ if you will… so I’m safe there. I suppose this shirt is saying I am consistently tired or I just really love coffee and want to tell everyone in a fancy way. I think I wore a Stussy shirt of my brother’s when I was in middle school (he was the ‘skater’, I was the farthest thing from it, but hey, again, I loved things for the fashion aspect – geez people, trying to ruin my artistic spin on it) and anyway, boys called me a poser. Obviously I’m over it… but I will also say, I will do things for the fashion aspect… my advice to you is stay 100 and keep it classy. Like, I would wear a NY Yankees hat in all white because I love it or a band that means something to me, but not just something random. There are so many really great graphic tees out there to waste your time, money, and image on something that doesn’t make sense for you personally. I picked out a few of my current favorites and you can shop them all below.
