I love a good plaid shirt, plaid outfit, plaid anything really… I’m a white girl, I can’t help it. #basic. This is one of my favorite looks to put together though, tucking in any type of plaid shirt into a short skirt. I love trying it with any type of high waist, but I do also love leaving it open, throwing a sweater over it, and having the bottom stick out over the skirt. Add some knee socks and we are totally channeling Clueless, and as a child of the 90’s, I can never get enough of that. I probably never will, and although it is making a comeback, I will probably be wearing that style when I’m 80. Ok, I digress, this is the perfect outfit to host a holiday dinner in. It’s not too revealing or you aren’t dealing with straps getting in the way, and it’s the perfect amount of dressy. I love putting a chunky necklace over a collared shirt, leaving the dainty ones for when I’m wearing a v-neck or bare collar bone. I got this skirt a few years ago at Abercrombie and Fitch (like after I worked there). And yes, it’s cool again. Actually, since their rebrand, it’s actually really good. As for shoes, I’m also really obsessed with a black patent pump, especially for holiday. It will immediately dress up an outfit, and typically doesn’t show scuffs, so a good one will last you a long time. Don’t forget my heel rule! If you forget, refresh yourself here and here (an oldie).
