Skincare with Colleen Rothschild: My First Time Experience With Retinol

This post has been sponsored by the PRIMP Network, all opinions are my own.

It’s been a long struggle with my skin, and seems to have a different crisis with every phase of my life. I have always had super oily acne prone skin, and HUGE pores that clog almost immediately. I broke out in my teens and literally never stopped. Except for both of my pregnancies, where during those times, I had absolutely flawless skin. Whatever hormone caused this to happen was not producing any oil, so I was also dry, but in a good way. It was so nice and I finally got a taste of not worrying about breakouts and having nice skin. Then there was postpartum. My skin had a hard time adjusting after babies and went crazy, making my breakouts worse than ever. I have tried literally everything out there… if you have a suggestion, I have tried it! Except for a Retinol. Honestly because for about 4 totals years straight, I was either pregnant or nursing, so I couldn’t try it. But now, I’m free! a responsible mommy who now can experiment! While I still use a few all natural products for cleansing or cream here and there, I hopped on board to try Colleen Rothschild.

Why this brand after trying so many already? Well, I knew of the reputation and that it was known for high-quality. I did a little more research to learn that Colleen was in the beauty industry for more than 20 years, studying and learning the complexity of skin before starting her own brand. Colleen worked behind the scenes in skincare manufacturing, creating products for other well-known brands.I loved the fact that she analyzed what was essential for providing maximum long-term results while ‘creating a sensory-rich beauty experience that balances proven science and modern technology’, being able to accommodate all ages and skin conditions. This stood out to me because I’ve already gone through a few stages with my skin so I know it changes, and all are unique and different to my phase of life. I endured the teenage years breakouts to now with trying to balance my skin out through postpartum hormones.

I knew I wanted to try Retinol, but it had to be the right time. As I just stopped nursing Elston in May, this seemed like finally the right time since I was getting my body back to myself again. Retinol is pretty much known as Vitamin A, which helps with elasticity in the skin and things your skin begins to lack as you age, causing wrinkles. High amounts are harmful to pregnant women because it can affect the baby. I started using the Colleen Rothschild Retinol for my first time with this product, because if I was going to try it, I wanted it to be quality and a brand I trusted. I have been using it for 2 weeks, and can honestly say it’s helping with my oil production and helping get it under control. I use a thin layer at night and wake up with my face feeling hydrated, but not over oily as it usually does. I am used to waking up with a thick layer of oil, which is why I got in the habit of washing my face 3 times a day in hopes of not clogging my pores any more than they already were. I am going to continue to use it so that I can balance out the overall chemical make up and skin cells and I will keep you posted! So far, I know I am at least assisting in the aging process and not breaking out as much along the way! Oh and I’m also trying to drink more water so this entire skincare attempt is not entirely moot.
