Staple Wardrobe: How to Wear White in the Winter

Hi friends! If you’ve followed me for awhile, you should know that I am a huge advocate for white year round. I wanted to include this in my staple wardrobe suggestions, because I still get questions about the rules of wearing white! Here is the #1 rule: there are no rules to wearing white anymore! It’s the most crisp and clean way to look chic and I love including a few important pieces so you can wear them a few different ways. You need a great pair of white jeans to start with. I have two, one of them being the high rise Madewell ones, because you know how much I love Madewell jeans. They are honestly the brand that fits the best and I recommend them for every body type as well! My second pair I found on sale at Gap 2 years ago and I liked them because at the time, they were a cropped ankle length and not many stores were doing that. If you invest in a pair of white denim, they will last, and you will be able to wear them through the summers and then into the winter where you can layer. My second item that is crucial for a staple wardrobe is a striped top. Any striped top in general, but I do love having a few turtlenecks on hand in the winter. I love being able to wear them alone or layer them under sweaters for warmth, or so you can have the option to shed layers if needed. This one is my absolute favorite because of how well made it is and how soft it is. The stripes are maroon which I love for this time of year, but I also recommend navy stripes because that’s just classic! My sweater as you probably know if you follow, is one of my favorites because of the fit, and I wanted to incorporate it again to show you how many ways you can get use out of it. Find my post HERE for how I paired it with a skirt! My goal is to show you that you really only need a few key items in your wardrobe to create a lot of outfits. I advise you to invest in jeans (not many, just 2, you can skimp on the rest and buy cheap), shoes (real leather always wins… and lasts), and handbags. A nice handbag makes an entire outfit, no matter how inexpensive everything else is. My main stores I love to shop for basics is Madewell and H&M. I scour the sale rack at Madewell for tops, because from working in retail, the best always goes on sale… and their denim is worth paying the price.

Both shoes in this post are Madewell and I got them at two completely different times, yet they are similar in color and the velvet. The platform heels were a fun spice to the holiday, but completely on trend and I love wearing them with socks. If you are game, this is a perfect way to winterize a shoe. I did this during NYFW as well with sequin socks and had so much fun with it!
