‘Tis The Season For Red Accents

Happy Holidays! If you need a festive outfit idea, a quick idea is staying monochromatic and adding a pop of color with accessories or accents. In this case, I chose red to stand out against my favorite, white. Everyone can do this with their own closet as well. This could also be something to think about whenever you shop. When you find a specific item that you love, see if you can choose a stand out color, and then do you have enough neutral items at home for it to stand out with. Sometimes people make the mistake of buying things on a whim, in so many colors, that when they get home and look at their closet, nothing actually can go together. The point of shopping smart and for the rest of your closet, is to get use out of everything more than once, and to use it all together. This is the most efficient way too, especially if you are trying to justify buying an item that might be a splurge or trendy. So overall, my advice is to make sure you have enough plain and neutral items in your wardrobe so that when you find a color you love, it will actually go with many things in your closet! I do love red and having it pop against white, for Christmas time, as well again in July. But my favorite color is raspberry, and if I have a million things in my closet that are so many other colors, or that would clash with that color, then trying to work pops of raspberry in my closet is hard and costly. So when I shop, I try to stay within that same color (ie: raspberry pumps, clutch, lipstick, that color in a sweater), so it is not clashing with other shades of that color, and I can pair them together.

Another great item to splurge on is a pair of hunter boots. You will wear them year round. It is definitely good to have them in a black or blue color, but a red hunter boot is something you can have fun with too. The red ones are my favorite, but you can do any color, and then match other accents in your closet to them. Like don’t go get a turquoise hat and yellow jacket if you want a different color boot. That is too all over the place and you won’t wear them together. An outfit will look put together and classic if you stick to the same color family, and always add the neutrals .
