In case the answer ‘because we just do’ is not enough for you, then here are a few reasons. A skirt is the most feminine piece of clothing that defines the woman’s silhouette, and honestly can look good on everyone. If you are a full-time reader of my blog, you know that I talk about the high waist skirt often and how it is for everyone. You can either wear it extremely high and have it flare out, or if you have pencil hips, then can take advantage of the pencil skirt. As everyone needs some great basics like an accordion maxi, plain lounging maxi, or a simple pencil skirt, a statement skirt spices up your wardrobe and can be a go-to item. My advice is to get a fun pattern or texture that you absolutely love and that will go with a couple tops that you already have. The gingham skirt pattern is a great go-to especially for summer and my second favorite is a classic stripe. I also am loving the shimmery accordion maxi and quite honestly, I think you need all three of these.
I have picked out some perfect styles for you in my ‘shop the post’ below, all great price points. This yellow gingham skirt I am wearing here somehow got lost under the radar in my post schedule and I apologize, because now the sizes are limited. Don’t worry, you can always put in your email for restock (it happens!), but in the meantime, I found you other options. I did find a similar gingham skirt in blue as well as a few of the same style like mine, but different patterns. All are perfect to put a simple tank or tee with it, or pattern mix with something you might already have. Madewell has the perfect cotton striped tee shirts and would go well tucked into a statement skirt! I encourage you to try it, this look is one of my all-time favorites!
