anthropologie sweater-flare jean

anthropologie sweater-flare jean anthropologie sweater-flare jeanshirt: old, similar here | sweater: Anthropologie, I love this and this and would put this with the flare jean, similar here | jeans: Paige, on sale here, MiH does a great one too | booties: consignment, similar here | jewelry: J.Crew, Stella & Dot, Bauble Bar (all my favorite jewelry investments)

Here is the deal with a flare jean these days; it needs to be a ‘skinny flare’. The look is definitely 70’s inspired with the major bell flare at the bottom, but from the top to the knee, it needs to be fitting to the leg which is the trick to giving you a sleek look. I’m really into these jeans with short tops, but also slouchy layers like this sweater I put over it, work well as long as part of your top half is fitted, like possibly the arms. Rachel Zoe perfects this look and is my inspiration behind it because she does it often and brings out flare when you almost forget about it, and forget that it can be flattering. I would stick with a dark wash that will be most flattering and a less ‘hippie’ look, wearing them with heeled boots, or actual heels for a dressier look. Then you can transition your pair into spring and summer wearing wedges and pairing the dark denim with crisp white, yellow, or a vibrant summer color. Happy Monday!
