A Cadillac Review

I know I’ve been an avid Chevrolet person literally since my first car at age 17, but we got a chance to take a new Cadillac Escalade down to Florida for our summer trip… and I now know why so many songs are written about the Cadillac. It’s pure class. As a branch of American made GM, I know it’s going to be good and I loved experiencing it first hand. The Cadillac Escalade we drove was the latest luxury model that had some amazing features, some almost too good to be true. We got to drive among the basic standards for this car which is nothing less than I want to drive all the time! The butter soft light leather, seat warmers, double sun-roof, smooth drive suspension, but most importantly, we got to try out the autonomous driving. This part Robert took to right away, but as someone who likes to be in control especially in a car because of my motion sickness, this was a little weird for me at first. How can I trust a computer to switch lanes and when, speed up or slow down on the highway, break when needed, keep a specific distance away from the car(s) in front of me, and overall be the second brain when driving. It was really cool for sure. When I shared it on instagram, I had a few people that were Escalade owners chime in and say that they love the feature and it’s just something to get used to.

Robert drove most of the way (which usually doesn’t happen because I get so carsick), but I knew he was enjoying the car so much, and he’s always so quick to learn and get accustomed to new technology, so he had to lead with this one. By the first hour he had the system mastered and he happily ate lunch and passively listened to a podcast (what a life). I drove the last hour and after hearing mommy 56497538457 times from the back seat (as one does), I had already been locked out of the feature lol. For safety reasons, you basically get three strikes until it locks you from the autonomous driving feature until you shut off and turn the car back on. It has a sensor that watches your eyes and makes sure you are paying attention to the road. Yes, these are all good things. But…. as a mother who can absolutely accommodate a mommy request while driving, I failed haha. Maybe we can think of something together that can service kids on a car trip… you know, like a built in car-nanny.

Overall, we loved our week with the Escalade. It’s absolutely giving my love for Chevy a run for it’s money, and has pretty much won me over from the Infiniti that I thought that I wanted. I really do love GM and will highly consider it for when we are car shopping (which will be in the near future as ours is getting older). A few other features that I just really appreciated were; the steering being so smooth, the collapsable foot barn to climb in, the way the whole car raises up once locked and ready to drive (hydraulics). I LOVE being up high, if I feel like I’m driving a boat, PERFECT. I want to feel like myself and my family are safe and I absolutely felt this way on this trip. I also loved driving it on errands before our trip to get a feel for every day driving as well, and it’s just as fabulous.

Thank you to GM, Cadillac, and Prestige for allowing us to try out this car for a week!
