Back to School Style: What my Kids are Wearing This Year
I recently did an Instagram post with Simon Malls for our back to school style preferences and share what I shop for when it comes to outfitting the kids. We hit up a few of my favorite stores for kids clothes, in hopes of them not fighting me on what to wear. Here are their specific preferences right now.
My Kids Back to School Style Preferences
Jackson
Jackson doesn’t like collared shirts or shirts with buttons. I know, he leaves me with very little choices, lol. But I try to find tees that are dressy enough to be presentable, but also not obnoxious graphic tees that look sloppy.
For pants, I headed to Old Navy to grab some chinos because they have great straight/skinny leg ones with a drawstring waist. This is crucial because that’s just more comfortable for Jackson during the day and easier when he’s on his own!
Elston
Elston would wear a princess dress every day of the week. As well as to bed if I let her. Luckily, Gap Kids has mix and match dresses and bottoms, comfortable for Elston to play in all day. But, the best part is that Gap seriously always has percentages off. So I’m ok with stocking up even if they get dirty at school.
Both Kids
I love Gap Kids for both of my kids. Their clothes are always really good quality and thick cotton. Their pajamas our my personal favorite because they hold up, and the kids usually love their designs the most. I also grab Jackson’s t-shirts there, and then get everything for Elston there too.
When it came to their shoes, I went to Journey’s Kidz because they usually have a great selection of on-trend shoes for kids. Along with mini versions of shoes that match mine like my Nike Cortez or Vans. I would say there’s not a huge price deal, but you’re not going to pay more than anywhere else. They just usually don’t have deals off.
Me
These Abercrombie overalls that you see are the perfect mom outfit because they’re casual, but put together. And, by pairing pointed flats with it, it dresses it up to another level. The overalls are on sale and I’ll have a link at the end of this post if you want to shop it! I love any kind of striped top, so if you don’t have one in your closet, definitely grab one. It will go with anything.
I can’t believe how grown up Jackson looks in these photos. He’s always down for a photo shoot. Elston was having a bit of a hard time, which is why you don’t see all smiles. Sometimes she just likes being held by me and that’s it. Nothing else. Her denim jacket is from Gap Kids and polkadot blouse is Old Navy. I accessorized my outfit with a hair scarf for fun, and then a designer bag to give it a little sophistication. This Louis Vuitton backpack was a great decision when looking for a ‘mom bag’ because it’s functional and doesn’t ever get in the way. Yet still allows me to not feel frumpy but very chic when out with kids.
