Easy Chic Mom Style
As much as I like the crazy outfits that are actually impossible to wear around kids, I love a good mom life outfit. To me though, this is something that makes you still feel chic, easy to throw on, and something you wear when just living the mom life. I’ve learned through experience as well as styling clients, that this needs to be something already thought out, that you have ready in your closet and can just grab. So I want to give you some ideas so you have apply this easy chic mom style to your own life, coming from my own personal wardrobe.
I’ve learned that I tend to grab basics when out and about with the kids on weekends, because I don’t want something too crazy, but then like to top it all off with something special. In this case, it’s this moto star jacket. The rest is my comfortable mom jeans, a striped tee that I literally live in and swear by, and a cute shoe boot. These have been my favorite, but are still a little high for an every day playground look. So in general, I try to go for a pointed toe (with flats or heels) because I believe it flatters the most.
I also do look for adorable kid outfits that will complement mine. They don’t always have to be matchy matchy, but I love when it just flows together. I did jump at this jacket for Elston because I love moto jackets on kids, and I personally am loving stars at the moment. This brand starts at a size Youth Small which is like a toddler 5/6, so this is still a little big for her. I rolled the sleeves for now and loved it anyway. In general though, I strive to get them comfortable clothes that they can move and breathe in, rather than stiff anything.
Another thing that’s important in a chic mom style is your jeans. I am really particular about style and feel, so I definitely pay close attention to all aspects in a jean. I chose a ton of options below that I highly recommend. I basically only wear a specific style of Levi’s (they have to be stretchy because Levi’s typically do not stretch, so I find the fabric they make that does, and only wear those) and then Madewell. They just know how to construct a jean for all body types and the rise is everything too. So I carefully choose a bunch of jeans that I personally recommend. I threw in a white pair of Abercrombie because I am excited about trying these, and will keep you posted!
Other items I love for a chic outfit is the under layer, whether it’s a tee, turtleneck, cami, or striped shirt. You cannot go wrong with a basic striped shirt, or lace cami. I love wearing these under everything. The last clothing layer is a chic jacket. I love moto jackets because they create structure and you can truly throw them on with a tee shirt and look put together. I chose a ton of my favorites below that you can scroll through. I finish off the chic and easy look with a pointed shoe. This can be a flat, boot, or heel. I went through a few of my favorites (currently being a woven mule for spring) or a pointed shoe boot like this one. If your jeans show your ankle, it’s so cute to have a little flat… very casual but very chic.
