Fall Layers: How To Put Together An Outfit
It’s my time baby, FALL is here! Every single thing about this season makes me so happy. From no GA heat, humidity, the bugs have gone into hiding, the leaves are gorgeous, the clothes are much cuter, we get to layer clothes, wear socks, wear boots, and have warm coffee… I could literally go on for days. But you get the point. This being my favorite time of year to outfit, I figured I would go over how I like to do Fall layers. I just like having texture, patterns, and options in my outfits. I choose a few cute things that stood out to me this season including these flashy rugby socks (I love the colors), my pinstripe long shirt, and this Shein plaid coat.
With this outfit, I wanted to wear my new rugby socks and I really love the platform open toe shoes for a style like this. They just look so good this way, as opposed to a flatter bottom because it’s a thicker sock. Then I wanted to try this long shirt over my jeans, but it ended up being somewhat bulky, so I just belted it. I wanted to go pretty neutral with all the colors because I knew the socks would be the stars of the show. The shirt is a brown pinstripe and it really is classy, you can wear it as a dress as well, just add tights!
I did add this Shein plaid coat for my final layer which has the same browns as the shirt, so the pattern mixing isn’t too crazy. I wore it last year, and it’s thin, but it’s cute, so it works for warmer fall days. I just like how different it is, and well worth the price!
There is definitely a ton of ways to layer, and I would say the safe way is to stay in the same color family; neutrals, shades, etc. But you can also layer with a statement and just play with colors that go well together, say like red and pink, orange and turquoise. You won’t be breaking any ‘rules’, just getting creative and artsy! I do advise not to get too crazy with adding a bunch of crazy layers, I’ve seen bloggers do this and it’s just a little too much. Too many patterns can look sloppy. So start with one, add one more, then assess.
