How to Plan Financially as a Business Owner
This post is sponsored by Regions Bank, member FDIC. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting brands who allow City Peach to run full-time.
Why? Well, because it had to. Haha, let me give you some background. Since I’m teaming up with Regions Bank today to make you aware of them and their modern approach to banking (basically keeping up with the times), I wanted to get us all into the financial mindset. Since I’m a Gemini I can (and do) go two ways with this. Live responsibly and then avoid the balance. I’ve always been responsible for my own finances since the age of 12, but my mindset was not exactly on the big picture. I was kind of always just surviving, day-by-day, so I spent and saved like that as well. But over the years while growing this blog into a full-blown full-time business, I realized it had to financially run like one too.
A tip from my most trusted advisor:
‘Draft out of your paycheck to plan for the future and create a reasonable “normal” for your livelihood. I like living in the mindset of ‘out of sight, out of mind’ when it comes to saving money. I advise adjusting your lifestyle to be within the parameters set, not living outside of that. So, all the while, you are saving and still living inside your means. Anything extra will be a nice bonus since you’re already accounting for everyday life as well as the future.’ ~Robert Beckwith
My husband Robert is absolutely good with money. He’s structural and number minded, where I’m, well the opposite… very abstract and creative. And definitely think every day is surely the last. I will say that we are the perfect balance, he talks sense and willpower into me, and I push him to live a little. It has actually worked really well over the past 6 years in our marriage. Robert is the type of person that can run numbers in his head, but also thinks outside of the moment, takes in the big picture, and financially plans ahead. This is why we are not living under a bridge. Contrary to what he still believes, I have learned so much financially from his mindset in addition to managing City Peach. It became its own business, so it had to be run separately. The business pays for itself, so I have had to make sure I put my money back into it for things it needs to run. City Peach pays for assistants, my time (which is childcare), social media tools (Pinterest management, newsletter management, organizational tools and templates), photography, trips, and gas for work related outings. I learned how to manage it this way basically because I had to. City Peach, LLC., is its completely separate entity.
This is why I now see things a lot differently when it comes to financial planning, and can see the value in having a bank that is reliable. But one thing I have found that is super important to me, is a bank that changes with the changing times. I wanted to let you know Regions Bank is expanding its presence in Suwanee, GA with a couple of new locations coming soon. They currently have 1,427 branches across the South, Midwest, and Texas, with the intent to reach more of customers through convenient locations. I stopped by a Regions Bank branch and they have a new innovative design and the latest technology that will cater to several things their customers can really appreciate when it comes to banking:
- Video Banking ATMs that allows their customers to connect with a live banker during extended hours
- DepositSmart ATMs accessible via drive thru
- Safe Deposit boxes with fingerprint and facial recognition technology
- Instant Issuance Debit Cards
If you are local to Atlanta, you have probably seen a few Regions Bank signs, but next time you see one, know that this is the new ‘it’ bank in our community. I mean, they are in tune enough to team up with bloggers/business owners who are obviously business minded. While I am not a customer or Regions Bank, they are standing out in my book so I recommend you check them out too!
