Casual Chic Style for Moms
Life with kids leave very little room for yourself, and most days I have no time to get ready. The whole point of my blog is to inspire but also encourage us all that it is possible to look put together with kids! Of course dressing up or being on-trend is fun, but a lot of outfits that are so cute, are seriously not practical around toddlers who never stop moving!
I wanted to share one of my go-to casual chic outfits when out and about with kids because a tee and jeans can be chic too! Some of my go-to outfits are flowy pants and a tank, but for days that get messy or even trips to the playground, a t-shirt is a must.
I love a good t-shirt that can be worn with jeans or later on with a skirt or dress pants. This Topshop one is one of those perfect graphic tees. Their shirts are definitely on-trend and usually sell out. This one just got restocked AND marked down to $15, which is perfect for a top you can wear with multiple outfits. It’s thick and soft, which I love. It runs kind of small, as I am wearing a small and wouldn’t mind a medium for a little bit more of a loose fit. I’m wearing the great every day mom jean that I have been loving all spring, and topped the outfit off with a fun (splurgy) shoe. These sling-backs or anything with a low heel and similar style is perfect with a boyfriend jeans or high waist jean; the look is supposed to be somewhat miss-matched dressy with casual. You’ll see further down, that I added my gingham trench to the look which ties together perfectly with the shoes, allowing you to also wear this outfit out to eat or step it up a notch!
Here is my main secret: find a look and casual chic style that is ‘in’ right now that you love. In this case it’s the ‘mom jean’, a catchy graphic tee, and fun shoe. Add something, anything designer and wear it proudly (don’t just save for special occasions because YOLO). 80% of what I do all day is run after my kids with a sleeve of wipes, so at least when we are out and I’m a true hot mess, I don’t necessarily look like it??!!
If you are local to Atlanta and it’s suburbs, I highly recommend this homemade ice cream place in Roswell, Butter and Cream. The ice cream is incredible along with some of their baked goods, which are baked locally in their sister store in Decatur. It’s tucked in a little corner with a vintage record store, across the street from the old Peachtree Salvage. Does anyone know what that place is now called these days? Anyway, it’s my old stomping ground where I grew up and love taking the kids to walk along Canton Street. This ice cream place is definitely worth checking out!
