Mommy Monday: Holiday Mom Style With BURU
If you are not new to my blog, you know that I have an on-going Mommy Monday series with 4 other blogger friends from all over the U.S. If you are new, welcome! Each month we team up to bring you a brand or product that we love and give ideas on how to style it. This holiday we are taking our Mommy Monday series weekly, to bring you holiday gift, outfit, or style ideas. Today I want to tell you that this is one of my favorite brands ever, and our second time showcasing it because we all genuinely love it. If I had a spirit animal or person that I admire most in this #girlboss world, it’s Morgan from BURU. Morgan is an amazing mom entrepreneur who started BURU with the idea to elevate your mom style. She carefully picks the styles that she sells and makes sure everything is ‘nursing friendly’ for the every day stylish mom. No brand of clothing has ever spoken to me more than Morgan’s ideas and the BURU mission. As you might know, I’m a huge breastfeeding advocate, and in my motherhood tenure, have only become more so… how do you say, shameless about it. I want to open the conversation and normalize it, because the crazy thing is, is that it’s still not. It definitely wasn’t in my little world while nursing my two children, and even though I’m just one person, I know I have a brand backing my thoughts. And one that inspires you do just be a mom and look chic while doing it. I mean, this sounds exactly what I founded my blog on! Living the stylish motherhood, and part of that is just living and doing what we need to do as moms. BURU is the answer as it’s main mission is to provide clothes ‘to withstand the demands of motherhood, without sacrificing style’. I am literally obsessed.
BURU actually means to breastfeed a baby in Mandarin. Read about the meaning HERE, and learn more about the founding of the company HERE. BURU carries other designers like Mara Hoffman and Rachel Comey, but also has it’s own label, the BURU White Label, which is the house line. The price point is somewhere around Anthropologie’s, where Morgan wears each item a few different ways to show multiple ways to style it.
So now that you understand my passion behind this brand a little more, I want to share my holiday mom style survival and what I’m doing to look chic this season with a few style tricks. I am huge on statement pieces, but you have to wear them the right way to not overwhelm you or the image you are trying to go for, which around here is chic. I invested in these red shoe boots, which are perfect for the holiday season, so when in doubt, I will throw these out with any sweater outfit, or plain pair of jeans or dress and immediately I’m festive. I also want to be able to walk around and carry the kids without fear of falling. These will do just that, as the heel is perfect and they are actually comfortable. Next is this amazing jacket. It’s BURU White Label and one of my favorite jackets ever. It’s completely on trend, you’re going to see similar styles around, so you need to grab this one from BURU. Every time I wear it out and about, I get compliments on it. Another holiday mom style tip is to wear basics like stripes and pleats in neutral colors. I plan on staying cozy but stylish, so my main pieces are going to be comfortable, then I will throw on one or two statement pieces for the holiday or to look a bit more dressy in general. OMG and I almost forgot about this bag. It’s the Chloe dupe, it’s under $90, it’s real leather, and you need it. That’s it!

I’m going to give a quick shout out to the kids’ outfits and a huge thank you to Nantucket Kids for dressing them. Jackson absolutely loves his lobster sweater and it’s great for right now, and definitely all Spring and Summer. Elston’s jumper skirt is the cutest thing I have ever seen and if you have a little girl, you need it. Her top and knee socks are also Nantucket Kids (more posts on them to come). The quality for these clothes is really good, and if you love this style of clothing for your babes, this is the brand for you. Think Beaufort Bonnet, but a little bit more reasonably priced.
