New Year’s Eve Outfit, Part 1: A Blush Mini

This week on the blog, I am going to go over a few New Year’s Eve outfits if you need some inspiration for the big night. They are all a little different from each other, since everyone does different things when it comes to NYE plans. I know I will definitely not be dressing like I would have a few years ago, and it seems like my style will change from year to year. In my 20’s, I was all about tight fitting sequins, and just uncomfortable outfits that I remember always being freezing. When I was pregnant with Jackson, we stayed home in our pajamas. The following year I wore a midi-skirt to dinner. Then while pregnant with Elston, I wore all black… and it was a turtleneck and leggings. This year and probably a few years out, I am totally ok with staying in and being cozy with our babes. But I do like to go to dinner (Hibatchi please), and at least get to dress up a little.

I pulled a few outfits that can be worn with most plans on New Year’s Eve. I talked previously about a blush dress with a red lip being perfect for a holiday party in December. And this one here, I was actually going to wear to Robert’s office Christmas party. But sadly, I got sick like an hour before we were supposed to leave. I was achy all day and was going to stick it out, but it hit me suddenly and the aches and chills got worse and I just couldn’t do it. Trust me, I would not pass up a chance to get fancy. So, I figured this dress would be perfect for New Year’s Eve because it’s soft, it’s dressy, and it’s mini! I also love any kind of dress with long sleeves and a high neck. I believe this creates a slimming look, but I have always loved it because I was always flat chested and/or freezing. But I also like the covered up look as opposed to revealing too much. This dress is a little sneaky because it has netting and is short. It does fit the rule I always go by when choosing what to reveal. If you go short hem, cover up the top. If you reveal more of your top half, go with a conservative bottom!

This little sweater coverup is perfect for over something dressy or worn with jeans and a tee. In my opinion, you can’t go wrong with a cable knit. Well, maybe the 80’s went a little off the deep end with it, but don’t be afraid of wearing it in all situations… it’s a classic!

Thanks for stopping by, stay tuned for the rest of the New Year’s Eve outfit ideas this week!
