Not Your 90s Khaki Pants… Or Are They?!
Either way, this is the fashion girl outfit if you’re going to wear khaki pants! I’m so into it, and not everyone will be. But if these aren’t your style, at least take away the palette. This outfit checks all my trend boxes that I love: high-waist paper bag pants, tapered at the ankle, light colors, topping it off with a camel belt. I loved accessorizing with colors and I’m really into adding neon right now. I would try this with a bag or clutch, or a pair of shoes and keep the rest of your outfit simple.
How to Style a Pair of Modern Khaki Pants
If you are ready to try the square toe trend, I highly recommend it, but go with a subtle square. The original Bottega Veneta heels (the braided square toe) set the stage this season for all the designers to make a similar one like this, but theirs is way too square in my opinion, and not flattering on the foot. I chose these because they were slightly more narrow, therefore more flattering. And I really wanted a neon shoe for fun!
I also think there is a fine line between frumpy and stylish when it comes to some street style, and baggier clothes. Same goes for the paper bag pant. It’s easy to look like ’90s mom’ from that SNL skit, so here are a few tips to not.
- monochromatic all the way. This was of dressing basically takes any outfit to stylish, no matter what!
- if you’re going to wear a baggier pant, belt it, or wear a sleeker bodysuit. Use my rule of one or the other. Either baggy on top or bottom, but not both. Same goes for revealing a lot of skin.
- Utilize accessories like belts or even cuff your pants at the bottom. Pay attention to styling details.
- A sleek low ponytail with a middle part is the most stylish and if you add this to an outfit you’re unsure about, it should add confidence and the ultimate fashion statement.
