NYFW 2018: Times Square At Night
Those that have been to NYC, have you been to Times Square at night? Furthermore, have you been to Times Square in the middle of the night? Both are really pretty and such a cool feeling. I feel like it’s a place in the world that so many people, cultures, and moments come together in one place. I love feeling like I’m standing in the middle of such energy. When I lived there, of course, you avoid it at all costs. It is always crowded, people are looking up and not down at where they are going, and they move SO SLOW. But going there as a tourist IS fun. There were a few instances that I went in the middle of the night, and it was in fact magical. Like 3am middle of the night. Specifically on a New Year’s Eve after everyone went home and the confetti was still blowing in the wind, and then on the Fourth of July one year. It was dead and there were barely any people. It’s like you could hear the lights and movement but it was quiet. I will never forget how it felt, it was just such a unique feeling that you probably aren’t going to get in most places.
During this September’s NYFW, I went with Katie and shot some fun shots one night. It was midnight and absolutely insane. It could’ve been 2 o’clock in the afternoon. People were celebrating special occasions, taking photos, eating… all of it. We wanted to have some fun and shoot in the craziness and have the lights lighting up the night in a different way than I had been shooting before. We had a lot of fun running all around, people watching, and laughing trying to get what we wanted to capture. In a few instances, I ran up to a cab to ask if I could sit on it for a minute. He was confused but once we did it at the red light, he laughed and the people in the back seat waved and seemed to enjoy the moment as well.
My outfit is just a dress pant from Zara, my favorite boots, and I alternated between this fringy jacket and my go-to Buru metallic bomber. Whenever in doubt, I always bring it along. You can shop my items below! I found a similar dress pant if interested!
