Outfitting from Day to Night: Library Days
I wanted to do a post that involved a casual but chic outfit that I would wear with my kids during the day, and then be able to make minor changes to create a night time or date outfit. This is my day look and I’ll break it down by piece and why.
My top is the perfect little eyelet top because it’s cotton and will keep you cool during hot summer days, yet the eyelet makes it a little dressier than a tee. My mom jeans are of course my recent jean obsession and have the perfect fit. I’m loving my Nike Cortez’s and as someone who doesn’t wear sneakers that often, I am absolutely loving these. I think it’s because they aren’t your average sporty sneaker. They are sleek, do the job in being reliable and allowing me to chase kids, and are patriotic! They also come in other awesome colors like gold, rose, black, AND suede and metallic! I’ve highlighted my red/white/blue ones and other favorites below!
I love the library and everything about it. The smell, the quiet sounds of research, reading, people doing their own thing. I grew up going to the library and actually remember visiting the Roswell Library often when younger. When I was pregnant with Elston, I would bring Jackson to the library every week for programs and to just be somewhere familiar and still out of the house. We also kept up in going when Elston was born, and spent 2 summers there escaping the heat for a few hours. In college, I used to work in the library, which my friends still find amusing. I would stack books, put away all the carts, and process books that were borrowed. I would work a few hours a day and because it was on campus, it was so easy to get to. Sometimes I would hide out in corners and just sit in peace and people watch out the window. I realize that sounds a little creepy haha! When I took the kids to my old stomping grounds in Roswell, they did love the kids’ section. They still might be a little young to grasp the concept of lowering your voice/screams, but they did a great job. Back in the day, they used to have movies there and I specifically remember going with homemade bags of popcorn and watching The Land Before Time. I hope I’m creating random but good memories like that for my own kids! I wonder as technology becomes so prominent in daily functioning, that in 20 years, will libraries still exist?
Also, if a #momlife photo isn’t captured in these first few pics, then I don’t know what is! These were just the 3 hour-moments it takes to get kids plus all our stuff out of the car and anywhere! Thanks to Katie for capturing those candid moments. That is what I love most about Katie who I work with for photography. She captures our true life. She doesn’t miss a moment of sweet moments, or chaotic real life, because both are real motherhood. Our creative content might be thrown in as this is what we are doing, creating content that is different, thought provoking, or creative. But my hope is for real and created to go hand in hand. My brand is living a stylish motherhood, through ALL it’s moments and I hope to be able to deliver that to you!
