Room To Unplug: Spending Saturday at the T-ball field with Toyota Highlander

This post is sponsored by Southeast Toyota, all thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting brands that allow City Peach to operate full-time.

With social media being 24/7, whether you do it for work or play, it can be easy to forget to unplug and enjoy life without documenting every little moment. Lately, I have been purposeful in unplugging on the weekends to just be present and enjoy our family time. Most of our weekend plans revolve around our active toddlers because let’s be honest, staying home can sometimes be more stressful. We love to venture out around Atlanta, whether it’s pizza dates with our friends at the Avalon, outdoor concerts and festivals at the park, or spending the day at the baseball field. This spring, we’ve been starting our Saturday mornings with Jackson’s t-ball games. It’s a chance for us to pile in the car, pack everything we might potentially need for a small army, and enjoy a morning at the ballpark. I love these memories, even when they feel like a constant hustle that we are almost always running late for, but hey, that’s life.

This spring, we got the chance to drive the new Toyota Highlander and experience all of its features. I don’t know about your family, but for some reason our kids are obsessed with the back of cars. They love jumping in the trunk any chance they get. They even ask to be ‘lifted’ out of the back… I think it’s an adventure for them. In any car that we consider for our family, we obviously need trunk space, and not just for the kids to think it’s their play area. We need room to pack everything from snacks, changes of clothes, a portable potty (yes, that is our life now), baseball equipment, lawn chairs, our dog, extra shoes, more snacks… and yes, this is only for a Saturday morning. Stay tuned for an actual vacation road trip! Needless to say, the Toyota Highlander definitely has room to fit all of our Saturday morning essentials. Not to mention that it checks off a lot of my personal requirements for a car. I prefer to have captain seats for the middle row because it’s so much easier for the kids to move around if needed (as well as myself) and it just looks prettier! Also, after having a 3rd row or large trunk, I will never go back! I’m obsessed with this option. You will see a little peek inside this vehicle in my video below, but I loved this vehicle’s interior color, it was the perfect sand color. I also loved having luxury features like power seats and heated/air-conditioned seats. Temperature controlled seats were made for Robert and I, as Robert is always hot and I’m always cold… actually heated seats in general are the greatest feature ever invented. Honestly, I grew up with really old and unreliable cars, so it means a lot to me to not worry about that aspect of life.

The Toyota Highlander was easy to drive and felt accessible as far as parking and maneuvering while on the road. I still stand strong on not owning a minivan, so this truly is a great option for those with like mindsets. You can’t go wrong on a trusted and quality brand like Toyota, so if you are of ‘van mind’, they actually have the best ones out there. The one feature that took some getting used to for me, was the stop-start technology engine system. The concept is great in that its conserving fuel especially since we live in Atlanta and literally sit in traffic all the time, everywhere we go. Driving for me is really therapeutic so I’m really particular in the details that go along with it. Driving forces you to unplug and just focus on what is around you. Which is why we love driving around Atlanta and exploring on the weekends, even when we don’t have t-ball to hustle to!

How do you unplug? As a family, work, and life, balance is really important to me. Letting my work life and real life intertwine is a crucial part of my actual job in blogging. I have noticed that doing it in an organized way with boundaries has been key for me. I start my weekend by making a conscious decision to unplug from social media. Everything will still be there when I return on Sunday night. On Friday nights, I send out my last email, post on Instagram for my Friday blog post, and shift my focus strictly to the house, the kids, and enjoying time and actual conversation with Robert.

We absolutely love the energy of the t-ball field on Saturday mornings. For this season of life, it’s the perfect outing that we can enjoy as a family. Robert is one of Jackson’s coaches, and it means a lot to us as parents to be as involved as possible while the kids are still at ages that they want us to be!

I hope you enjoyed a peek inside our weekend… and how the Toyota Highlander had enough room to get us there.
