The Paperbag Pant & Cherry Blossom Festival recap

This post is sponsored by Everywhere Agency on behalf of The City of Brookhaven; however, all
thoughts and opinions expressed are my own

If you followed my IG stories last weekend, you saw that we attended the Cherry Blosson Festival in Brookhaven, on one of the prettiest weekends in Georgia. The weather was absolutely perfect and the trees were in bloom! You also probably saw that on our way down 400 to the park, a huge metal rod popped our tire! That was a little bit of a hiccup that day but we eventually made it and had the best time.

We parked down the street so we got to ride the shuttle which was a really cool travel bus and was the kids’ first bus ride ever! As soon as we got there we decided to eat at the food trucks and had an amazing homefries plate, made with chili and peppers. It was incredible! I packed the kids sandwiches on the way down since their lunch time was a little earlier and it’s always safer as far as making sure the kids never hit starving and freak out on us. As we ate, the kids got King of Pops popsicles which they absolutely love, and we went and ate under a huge oak tree. We let the kids run around the field where there was music on stage below while we finished our lunch. As we made our way over to the kids section, we made sure to walk by all the vendors just to check it all out. The route was planned out to check everything else out and then end at the kid area. It was actually really well contained being completely in the fenced in area. The only downside was that the ground was a little muddy and damp because of the rain that week, which the kids didn’t care one bit. I just thought twice about it because Jackson wanted to run from bounce house to bounce house with no shoes. I think the highlight of their time was the balloon animals, they were SO excited about this and were so mesmerized watching it happen.

It was the perfect weekend to be out and about in town and we are always looking for things like this to go to and take our family on weekends. The Cherry Festival is annual and you can bookmark the info HERE, so make sure you keep it on your radar and calendar for next year, it’s the perfect way to kick off springtime in Atlanta! A few things I will do differently next year is try to bring our dog because there were a ton of pups there and check out the dog activities. The kids were ready to be in the kids section that we just didn’t spend a lot of time watching the obstacle course for dogs, which they would have liked. I will also come prepared with a blanket and spend more time on the grass because it was so relaxing and nice to sit and listen to the music. Some of this is a little harder with kids because my mindset is to relax at outdoor festivals, but all gets a little easier year by year. The kids area definitely saved us though and that was time well spent! We all went home exhausted but loved the day outside, complete with balloon animals piled in the back!

Here’s a few shots of our tire from the way down and a highlight or two of the kids’ day!

I wanted to quickly include one of my favorite pants while we’re on the topic of spring. The paperbag pant is a great alternative to a dress pant, and so much more comfortable than jeans. They are high in rise, and have pleats in the front. The style is pretty straight leg with a somewhat tapered ankle. The higher the rise, the more flattering they can be. I first saw these exact ones in NYC and knew they were the perfect addition to my warm weather wardrobe. I don’t know why I’m so into these pants, as they are definitely an updated take on the mom jean granny pants from the 90’s. But they are on trend right now, yet classic because of the pleating. I can see how this style can go very wrong, so you have to be careful in how you wear these. Try to stay small or fitted with your top, as something more baggy will just end up looking sloppy and not help the overall look. I’ll keep you posted on more outfit ideas with them. You’ll be seeing a lot of these over the next few months as I try to get the most use out of them and create a variety of outfits with this style! You can shop everything below!
