If you’ve followed us for awhile, you know we make our own pizza and have pretty much made family pizza night a tradition. We have special designed pizza nights with the kids as something fun for them to look forward to when at home or when friends are visiting. We are also food snobs over here so if we don’t make our own dough (which we do most of the time) we will grab dough balls from Publix. I like the ingredients and the taste is really good… so we approve!

At Home Pizza Night

I’ve broken down our favorite ingredients for family pizza night and given you a little peek into our refrigerator. I’ve done a few Samsung refrigerator tours each season, and it’s funny that at different times throughout the year, our refrigerator looks a bit different. During these cold months we like to have items prepped for nights like family pizza night, stuff to throw in soups, and just warm comfort food. In my summer post HERE, you will find more fridge organization ideas like ready cut fresh fruit and super easy things to grab that are refreshing and don’t require much cooking. But in the colder months we love hunkering down and cooking (and eating) at home.

Our Samsung stainless steel refrigerator is not new to us, as we had one at our old house. When buying the new house, we were actually thankful there was a Samsung double door refrigerator here as we can trust these appliances and know what to expect. Ours has the room we need and we love how you can organize it by drawers, fridge dividers, and movable shelving. I love the pull out meat drawer at the bottom, and I basically organize and move around my refrigerator items like I do my closet. And I definitely refresh to a new theme every season, and then weekly with each grocery shop. Seeing everything organized helps us use the food we have and utilize all available ingredients before doing a new grocery shop. I’ve said before that the new smart Samsung refrigerator is on my list, and now that we are officially in our long-term house, we will be upgrading in the future just to have the latest. I love the smart fridges that have the family hub display where you can meal plan, play music on apps from your phone, or mirror your tv on the fridge screen!

Our dough recipe:
We make the Saturday dough from one of our favorite books, ‘The Elements of Pizza’, but there are a ton of others in there to try that I highly recommend. Also great pizza toppings as well. But for now, these are our simple pizza night details.
Water 350g
Salt 15g
Yeast .3g
White flour (we do not use bread flour although you can): 500g

Find the details on the first few hours of bread prep in THIS blog post.

Our sauce recipe:
San Marzano tomatoes (2 cans)
Freshly minced garlic
Oregano and basil spices
Salt and pepper to taste
Olive oil

My favorite pizza toppings right now are grilled artichokes, thinly sliced red onion, and prosciutto. Try it, it’s hearty but tasty enough with all the different textures and flavors. I’ve become a huge veggie pizza lover so typically I can throw on any veggie and love it, but this is my go-to at the moment.

These few photos are another pizza night, we do them often and I wanted to share because Gable was so cute!
