From Day to Night: the Summer Date Night Outfit

Last week I wrote this post that highlighted a great daytime mom style that was easy to wear with your kids, but chic enough so that you would feel put together and just good! Even if you haven’t showered in days (usually me). I wanted to take the concept of taking that same outfit, change a few things, and make it the perfect choice for a summer date night outfit. I don’t know if you’re sick of seeing this red eyelet top, but I decided to keep that as the constant, and style the 2 looks around it.

I’m focusing on it because eyelet is dressy enough to not be just a tee shirt, but breathable and light to make it wearable in the summer. I love the color red certain times of the year. For patriotic holidays/most of summer, and Christmas time. I wanted to show you that you can tweak certain accessories or favorite denim, and really create different looks while not having to have this elaborate wardrobe or a million different items.

I am incorporating two of my favorite jeans. The first one was my new fave mom jean, perfect for a moveable daytime look, casual enough for any kind of outing with kids. For your summer date night outfit, you might want a dressier look, which means, dressier silhouette. Even though you can dress up the high waist mom jean (more on that in a future post coming soon), I wanted to switch to a skinny jean because it helps any body type. And if you’ve followed me for some time (or at all), you know my all-time go-to is the white jean. Or wearing white at all because I love the crisp chic look it can create.

I have 2 favorite white jeans. The 10-inch high-rise Madewell white jean, and the white jean from Gap. I actually stopped in there today to try it on because they brought it back and I needed to make sure the ankles and waist were the perfect length that I love. And it checked out, so I highly recommend this jean from Gap now too, along with Madewell, which I’m usually always loyal to.

To continue into the summer date night outfit, I added a few key accessories. Leopard is always a staple and a neutral, so I added my favorite clutch. This Clare V leopard clutch has been my absolute favorite for 3 years now, completely worth the investment! And since a date night out is usually kid free, I take advantage of using a clutch because I don’t have to carry diapers (wipes, toys, snacks, changes of clothes, etc…) for a few hours. I matched my clutch’s theme with a necklace that is more classic than colorful or light an airy, but I have loved this tortoise link necklace for so long. I went with a classic strappy nude heel and finished it all off with a red lip. I like to take advantage of nights out without kids, with things I can’t wear when I am with them; like heels, lipstick, small bag, perfume!

Ahhh the little luxuries!
