It’s finally time! The September issue of Vogue is out and so are the Halloween Oreos. This is my cue and also my awakening! It’s officially fall and even though the weather is still hot and global warming is rampant (lolol), we can still start transitioning from a Summer to Fall wardrobe. How? Well, I’m going to tell you!

Transitioning From a Summer to Fall Wardrobe

Incorporation of Colors

In my mind, fall means all the muted colors like camel, raisin, rust, burnt orange, browns, and beiges. But don’t get bored with just that color palate, I like mixing all of these with some of my favorite colors, like a pale yellow, raspberry, or even a lime green. I do love wearing all my white, but putting camel with it. White jeans, white sweater, add a camel bootie, and maybe a colored neck scarf. When it comes to dresses, you don’t have to put them all away just yet… If you have anything that is a micro floral, muted florals, maxi dresses, anything jewel tone… keep it out! All you have to do is add a chunky cable knit sweater over it, or a shoe boot, and you can get more use out of it, even while the weather is warm, and starting to cool off.

Mixing up Your Prints

Micro florals are still big right now, and I’m just drawn to them. See if you can find some cool maxi skirts or dresses, and add a brown or camel shoe boot. You can also try shopping the sale racks or sale categories online for these type of styles, just because it’s on sale, doesn’t mean it’s out of style. This is just the retail world, it all has to go on sale eventually and you can get some really great deals if you stalk these. I personally love my sale finds at Anthropologie over the years, because it’s quality items, usually something I’ve wanted all summer, and I can always find a way to winterize something.

Switching up Your Accessories

If you are more of a plain jeans and tee kind of person, add a hair scarf in fall colors or a nice brown belt. If you don’t yet want to go the shoe boot route, then opt for closed toe flats. Try a pointed toe that will look so chic with a nice pair of jeans! There are some fun loafers out there that are perfect for fall that you wouldn’t normally wear in the summer… now is the time! I am coveting these brown wicker flats and I think will be so cute with jeans and a light sweater as the weather starts to change.

In this outfit, I took a summer pant that is still so comfortable with a pretty button detailing, and added a camel sweater. Add a close toed flat, and we are ready for fall! I love pants like these because they are light and comfortable, so very appropriate for the current warm weather, but will go just fine with a light sweater or a fall color.
