NYFW 2018: What Goes Around Comes Back Around

As I wrap up my New York Fashion Week posts, I wanted to end with something meaningful. On a gloomy September morning, still hazy from a whirlwind few days, we ventured up to the Top of the Rock. It was cold and rainy, it was 9 am, and we had already spent one million dollars on cabs. But we are dedicated to our craft and wanted to get that money shot. For me, it was meaningful because I actually had never been there. It was the one place in all my times LIVING or visiting New York that I had never been. Which sounds crazy, but maybe not. When I lived there, I’ve already made it pretty clear that my life was in shambles haha. I had just left a 10 year relationship, left everyone I knew, and moved up to a new city. I jumped into a crazy relationship and lost track of who I was, including confidence and direction. I was purely just surviving, while at the same time, experiencing such an amazing city. But I love that back then, I experienced the city in a completely different way than I first did when I was a 19 year old tourist, and then also as a 35 year old blogger. I’m kind of glad I saved Top of the Rock for now, when I can appreciate it in the way that I can currently. I want to thank Katie too, for being game on going, because she didn’t quite know the depth of this meaning, but knew it was important to me and that I had always wanted this shot. And I knew she was the perfect one to get it because she’s always able to translate what’s in my head, onto film. Or I guess to ‘digital’ lol.

The trip up to Top of the Rock was surprisingly empty. It was the perfect slow and misty morning and there really weren’t that many people. We were prepared for lines and thankful, didn’t have any! I first shot in my mom’s Nicole Miller jumpsuit that she wore back in the 80’s (vintageeee so adorable), and then I wanted a pop of red to stand out. So here are my last and final NYFW photos, I hope you have enjoyed a peek into my trip through the outfits I put together. I would love any feedback from following the trip as well!
