Spring Layering Ideas: From trenchcoats to swingcoats, it’s not all about the kimono

It’s no surprise that I love layering. That’s why I love fall and winter fashion… it allows us to be more creative without melting from the heat. And early spring is still chilly enough to be wearing jackets, yet you don’t want to wear a full-on winter coat. That’s why today I wanted to show you that you have options out there for spring layering ideas. There are so many, you just have to think outside of the kimono. Yes, a kimono is a great layer that’s fun and flattering, but spring layering doesn’t have to stop there. I love the idea of different kinds of coats like the swing coat to a vest. There are also some awesome rain jackets out there that don’t quite look like your typical raincoat. I found a ton of spring layering options for you that will include some lightweight jackets, long classic trenches, to my favorite denim jackets because those are always a classic.

Today I’m wearing a tie-dye trench from the Something Navy brand, that is a really fun twist on the trench coat. I decided to keep it chic and just pair it with my favorite basics: my madewell jeans (dark and high rise), nude pumps (always), and a white cami. You cannot go wrong with these pieces because they are all classics, then you can go a little crazy on your outer layer piece.
