Springtime Kid Style With Janie and Jack

It’s now time to start thinking about spring style and purchasing items that will easily fit into your wardrobe now, but be what you want to wear this summer too. I do this with my children’s clothing too, and even more so because I want to get the most use out of it since they grow so fast. I always turn to Janie and Jack for special occasion or on-trend quality clothing that will last. I absolutely love J&J’s style and is my go-to for basics like khaki’s, outerwear, or a classic outfit for Elston.

I am really into the skinny pant for Jackson and that is actually still hard to find (no clue why at this point, but kid clothing is usually last on the trending train). Jackson and I love the cuffed pants in any style, so I jumped at these khaki’s because we can wear them for dressy, but it’s still the style he’s used to in the sweatpants he loves so much that we wear throughout the winter. He’s actually started a trend at school and his friends call his tapered cuffed sweatpants ‘Jackson pants’ since almost every pant was this style! It was so cute to hear this! It’s also getting more difficult to dress Jackson since he has a lot of opinions in what he wants to wear now. I think he would wear his paw patrol pajamas every day if I let him, so I try to reach a medium for both of us. He loves striped shirts, so I always get him a classic navy and white striped shirt every season. This way, I know it will look good in family photos for summer, or is versatile enough to wear with anything if he happens to not want to budge and only wear that! I chose this blue jacket for him because I LOVE a lightweight bomber, and since blue is his favorite color, it was an easy wear with no fights! Mom win! A new trend for toddlers right now is the slide flop. Jackson absolutely loved these, however, they are kind of hard staying on. I got him a size 10 which he is a 10.5, and they are still a little big. I might try and see how the 9’s work, and if not, he has another year to really be able to successfully wear this style. They are also ‘trendy’ right now to wear them with socks. Seriously, it’s a throw back but actually looks good.

Elston’s outfits are always a bit easier because she will still wear anything, so I like to get a patterned pant and switch out the tops. I loved these little ruffle pants when I saw them and they will go with a few different tops. Janie and Jack typically runs large so I get their true age size, as opposed to sizing up one which I usually need to do in other brands. J&J also carry Hunter boots if you didn’t know this already! They are the same price as anywhere else, so worth getting at all the same place. I decided to go with red for E so she can wear them this summer with red, white, and blue outfits!

Lastly, to touch on my outfit, I am wearing my new favorite patterned pants. I had the pair of lemon Kate Spade jeans from a few years ago that were similar, and I took them out of my close the other day and tried them on, and they were literally so low rise I couldn’t even make them work. I don’t know when this happened that I can truly only wear high rise jeans comfortably, but I had to take them to consignment! So when I found these, I jumped at them! They are a crop flare but not extreme. The style says high waist, but I would honestly say they are mid-rise. I love the pattern so much I’m going to make them work. I am finding that the crop flare looks best when you have a good view of your ankle, or with a heel or espadrille. You just want to make sure you aren’t wearing a really clunky shoe or it won’t help the silhouette of your legs. I also mixed patterns with this outfit as it’s one of my favorite way to outfit besides going monochromatic. My tip is to stay in the same color story but other than that, get creative! You can shop my outfit as well as the kid’s outfits below. My bow flats are Zara last year, so I added a few espadrilles I’m loving for spring!

You will have to scroll down to see how adorable the kids were being with each other. There is one photo where Jackson was propping up his leg to pose, and then Elston always wanting to copy Jackson, tried to do the same thing. And bless her heart, she tried!
