Stock Up On Summer Staples
I’m all about the statement pieces and things that are either out there or different. However, I have been in the situation before where all I have is that, and then nothing goes with anything. Or when I’m out and about with the kids or friends and just want to wear something comfortable and casual. This is where staple items come in. Don’t get me wrong, these too can still be elevated. AND this is also different from my fall/cold weather staples as well. So let’s break it down for summer outfit ideas. You need comfortable and in my opinion, most of the time cotton. You need stripes; everyone needs a few striped shirts in every basic color (camel, navy, red, black). You need a great pair of denim cut-offs. I have search for these high and low and have finally found a great pair. I’ve talked a little about it HERE, and these A&F ones are my favorite. I used to love the Free People ones because they went up on the side, but mama needs a high rise… and those kept getting lower and more ‘festival’. So I am all about these that I’m wearing AND they come in a few different washes! Also, pretty common for Abercrombie these days, there is no pocket logo! Thank goodness! SO you can get a classic, great fitting, pair of denim shorts that are long enough and high enough on the waist, or less than $45! When I’m dreaming up summer outfit ideas, I think about certain items that you just can’t wear in the winter and is the most fun when it’s warm, and that is summer accessories!
During the warm weather, you don’t want to fuss with a lot either on you or schleping around. I opt for things that are helping me (hair scarf) or like a bag that won’t stick to me when it’s sweltering. Or even a nice leather bag is too much to worry about getting ruined. My favorite warm weather accessories are straw bags, hair scarves, and textured jewelry.
