The Tuxedo Shirt

As a loyal fan of the button down oxford shirt, there’s a sister to this style and it’s the tuxedo shirt. I absolutely love this style and think it’s a great way to wear a button down. I go way back with love for this style. Back in middle school where we are all trying to find our style but still remain ‘cool’, I would wear stuff of my moms from the 70’s which didn’t go over very well with my peers haha! This is when Gap, Old Navy, and Abercrombie were on the rise and classic 90’s styles were in full-effect. No one really cared about my bell bottom jeans and lace tops that I wore anyway. So this is the most random memory, but we were on a field trip to the Chattahoochee park where we spent weeks building rafts of our own and floated down the Chattahoochee River. Leave it to me to only remember outfit details! I remember a girlfriend wearing a tuxedo shirt from Gap and thought she looked so cool in this style. I had never seen it before but knew I loved it. I don’t remember if I ended up getting one at the time, but to this day, this style reminds me of her and this memory of that shirt that day. Luckily for social media, I’ll be tagging you Alison :)!

When I found this adorable Lilla P tuxedo shirt with rose gold stripes, I knew I had to style it! You might remember I visited the Lilla P showroom when in New York this fall for NYFW (that post HERE), and had the most amazing time. Their showroom is one of the most beautiful and the team of girls including their founder are such gems to be connected to! I love the quality of the clothes, they are incredibly soft and well-made with classic styles that are completely versatile. Today I paired this tuxedo shirt with velvet/sateen skinny jeans and of course topped it off with a nude pump. This is one of my favorite color schemes to wear as its soft and feminine, but still incorporates brights and whites, ok to wear any time of year. I added a chunky cardigan for a top layer because I love layering in general, and texture mixing within the same color scheme is one of my favorite things to do. I added this shimmer round bag which is a must-have this season as any kind of circle bag is on-trend. This one is a great price and can be worn as a cross-body too.

You can shop all outfit details below in my ‘shop the post’. The chunky cardigan is old, but I linked that Target one that I am loving that I included on my IG stories last week! It’s a great price and a perfect sweater coat if you are in the market for one!
