NYFW: What To Do, Where To Stay

I’ve wanted to write this post for awhile but there’s a lot to it, whether you are going to New York for fun, for work, or for Fashion Week. I figured I would recap a little bit of this past trip from NYFW19 and where I stayed. I’ll also list my absolute favorite places in the city to go and to eat, since I’m asked that often to talk about my favorite places in NYC, and I feel very passionate about the food there specifically.

Last week, I had the pleasure of being hosted by Fifty Hotels and Suites by Affinia. They are a cute little boutique hotel in midtown, upper east side area and were incredibly accommodating. Here’s the deal about the location. It’s literally perfect for anyone because it’s a no fuss to either bridge or highway to the airport (as opposed to getting through downtown just to get to the Queens bridge or Roosevelt Hwy and close to everywhere… except my favorite coffee shop. That was the only qualm I had with the location, because you all know how I feel about my Stumptown, which is in Nomad/Chelsea area and a little trek from Fifty Hotel and Suites. But being on 50th street, you are a short little skip over to Rock Center and 5th Ave. You’re a short walk down to Grand Central (one of my absolute favorite places in NYC) and Bryant Park, and then another short walk north up to Central Park. Aside from my favorite coffee place, it’s in a great and central area!

Ashley and I stayed at Fifty for 3 nights (Ashley for 4) and we had a really pleasant experience. First, I do have to tell you about Jasmine. You will find her at the front desk and provided the greatest customer service I’ve ever had. I’m not just saying that, and it wasn’t just to me. While waiting for cabs in the lobby, or just coming and going during my time there, I saw that she was amazing with every single person that she spoke to. The hotel is clean, it’s cute, it’s quaint, and actually perfect for New York… but Jasmine is what made it feel homey. If you are looking for a reasonably priced place to stay, Fifty Hotel is just that, along with all the important things when looking for a hotel and not having anything extra to worry about.

Near Fifty Hotels and Suites by Affinia, because you’re going to want to know where you can walk to:

Grand Central (one night we grabbed Shake Shack in the food court there and it was a life saver) / Rockafeller Center / 5th Avenue shopping / Central Park / SerendipityIII

Here is a list of my absolute favorite places to see/do/eat in New York City:

-Saluggi’s – best pizza ever

-Broken coconut (soho) – get the blueberry chia pudding

-Stumptown coffee shop (duh) in the Ace Hotel

-La esquina – best authentic Mexican you will ever have. Upstairs you eat at the counter, downstairs (speakeasy) is a whole bar and table seating

-Sarabeth’s Bakery – they have amazing lemon ricotta pancakes

-Balthazar (European tourists but so chic)

-any restaurant in Chelsea market including Buddakan

– SHI in Long Island City (Asian Fusion and absolutely amazing)

– elephant and castle

– the meatball shop

-Laduree (the restaurant is in soho)

-Momofuku Milk Bar

Also, a few details on the details. My Delsey suitcase is the best suitcase I’ve ever had, and quality! If you are ever in the market for luggage, please check them out, they make really great products. You can use my code citypeach25 for 25% off anything $50 or more on their site. Also, my custom made LV fringe bag is from Leather and Vodka, and a true masterpiece. There will be more on this bag coming up, but here’s some info. This company custom makes these bags, all hand designed, just for you. They have inventory on their site, but they also will take orders if you want something specific. They are all certified authentic Louis Vuitton pieces, and then the fringe them up… or add woven leather or turquoise stones.
